Sure, it’s a timeless cliché but if that’s the case, why aren’t you choosing to believe it?
One individual goes and accomplishes the thing you truly desire, while you sit there on the sidelines wishing and hoping.
What separates the two?
Yes, action is key.
But belief is the not so secret ingredient. You must choose to believe it.
Take a moment for yourself and reflect on why you want what you want.
Does that scare you?
Or does that empower you? Or both.
If it does, you’re on the right track.
What is holding you back?
Why are you not acting on your goals and passions?
If the only limit is you - nobody else - who's to say you can't be, do, and have what you truly want?
The only prerequisite in life is knowing what you want.
Are you living the life you truly desire?
If you're not, check in with yourself and see what it is that you truly want.
If you don't know, then check your fear – that is step number one in choosing to believe your goals are possible.
And don’t forget that other cliche:
Aim for the moon, even if you miss, you'll land among the stars.
Why do we settle?
Can you imagine if Roger Bannister had settled? Thank goodness he tuned out those around him, chose to believe, and left the stars behind.
Why do we choose to listen to those around us saying what they feel we can or cannot do?
Are they right?
It’s not their moon or stars so be careful who you choose to listen to.
It’s your life, stop listening to the noise.
What do you really want?
Now, it’s about choosing to believe it.
What’s missing from this equation?
Sure, it helps you develop a passion, but it is never ultimately about who's the smartest, fastest, oldest, tallest, etc.
Spoiler: there were others with arguably more talent than Roger Bannister. And I bet you know what the difference was.
So, if it’s not about talent, then it’s about your desire and your passion to get there.
If life happens because of you and for you - not to you - don't you think this concept applies here as well?
It's not one or the other. It's not just sacrifice and it’s not only talent.
It's all of it - everything. It’s simply choosing to believe it and today you can make that choice.
Go get your moon and take a look at the stars as you pass them by.
